Buyer Planner

Red Star Contract Manufacturing (RSCM) is expanding rapidly and needs an enthusiastic and dedicated team members. A successful candidate should be experienced with contract manufacturing, creating new ways of work, and operating with rapidly growing business. Additional experience in solving problems, documenting procedures, and managing projects are crucial to a successful Buyer/Planner.

SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for accurate and effective operation of the MRP system as it relates to production, including raw materials, customer-supplied materials, packing and shipping materials, molds and tools required for product launch, spare parts, inventory control, and vendor management. The position requires the ability to interact with sales, production, engineering, and maintenance to forecast, order, and track all supplies and equipment needed for initial launch, then production. The position supports a lean and safe manufacturing environment, while focusing on continuous improvement, quality, and support of teamwork throughout Red Star.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (includes the following but other duties may be assigned)

· Maintain the MRP system for raw materials and customer-supplied materials

· Issue purchase orders for raw, shipping, and packaging materials, clean room supplies, cleaning items, ultrasonic cleaning supplies, and perishable items required for production

· Issue purchase orders for molds, tooling, fixtures, and equipment required for production and specified by engineering

· Issue purchase orders for spare parts for maintenance, supplies, and cleaning/purging materials

· Keep inventory current in the MRP system, manage materials received and where they are stored

· Communicate with vendors and obtain quotes, quantity breaks, lead times, and specifications for new materials

· Research second sources for materials

· Adhere to all aspects of the ISO 13485 Quality Management System

· Assist with training employees on the MRP system

· Monthly, verify inventories and investigate inventory discrepancies

· Weekly, review open purchase orders to vendor

MARGINAL/LESS ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

· Must be a team member and effectively communicate with others

· Meet all training and education requirements, as specified by department

· Knowledge of Red Star Quality Policy, work procedures, and work instructions, per the QMS

· Aids in specifying and responsible for the requisition of materials needed for production

· Flexible and can maintain continuous attention to detail

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

· Associate degree in related field, or equivalent experience

· Good verbal and written command of the English language

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Knowledge of manufacturing processes and routing, preferred

· Understanding of manufacturing processes for insert molding and manufacturing, preferred

· Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, SAP, and JobBoss experience, preferred

· Ability to negotiate terms and blanket orders
